Expert Pakistan Easing The Lives Of Daily Workers And Labourers
With Corona spreading its atrocities worldwide, the authorities are finding it hard to cope with the third-string of this unseen killer. The new epicentre of COVID-19 is South East Asia, with India feeling the wrath.
With around
three hundred fifty thousand cases reported daily and thousands losing their
lives, Modi’s regime seems helpless. Endless cremations are practice every day
all over the country.
Along with
India, Pakistan is also going through turmoil. The last few days in Pakistan
have seen an upsurge in the number of deaths, with 188, 142, 201, and 140
deaths reported till the 28th of April. The holy month of Ramazan
combined with the fear factor of Corona and shortage of work means financial
difficulties for daily wagers.
With the
PTI Government imposing varying restrictions in the country till now and a full
lock down, in specific districts, just around the corner, daily wagers and
low-income people are fearing hard times ahead.
Labourers,
daily wagers, and skilled workers like electricians, cleaners, plumbers,
construction workers, AC technicians, and many more fear a decline in their
already sinking financial conditions.
With the
country’s economy into a tailspin and a looming fear of recession, the
government finds itself in no man’s land when it comes to compensating for the
working class. As Labour Day approaches fast, the promises made to these hard
workers every year on May 1st seem to be far off.
Labour Day, 2021
It seems as
if all other classes barring the working class, will lay at their homes, with
their feet up, and enjoy a relaxed day at home. These hard-willed people will
struggle all day long to firstly search for work and then accomplish whatever
task is assigned to them for a meager amount.
Not to
forget that while we enjoy a day off on Labour Day, these people will be
working in the scorching heat. Ironic, isn’t it? This is the day celebrated to
commemorate the endless hardships and sacrifices made by the working class and
daily wagers, but…They also deserve a day off. A time off from the stresses of
earning to make their ends meet.
They also
need to rest and cherish some time off with their family and loved ones.
However, in reality, the situation is different. Everyone takes a day off
except for the ones who should.
On May 1st,
in case there is no lockdown, you will see people of all ages and genders
waiting by the sides of the roads for a customer to whom they can serve to earn
their daily wage with dignity so that they can buy food and a small amount of
necessary groceries for their family and put a smile on their children’s faces.
Every
Labour Day, we keep on hearing fake promises made to these poor souls. Every
year a new hope arises in them that one day they will earn with respect, earn
continuously and live a happy life that they’ve always dreamt of.
The good
news is that the situation is not bleak as quite a few efforts are being made
in Pakistan to cater to these people and provide them with a better living. Several
people and companies make substantial efforts to ease the lives of these
people.
