Here’s How to Deep Clean Your Bathroom?

Frankly saying, none of us wants to clean our bathrooms, but we want them super shiny and hygienic. Unfortunately, there is no shortcut to bathroom cleaning, and considering what they go through every day, bathrooms need our special attention.

Various studies conducted by Charles Gerba, Professor of Microbiology at the University of Arizona, on household bacteria have suggested that the bathroom is quite a filthy place. Not only do you want your bathroom spic and span, but it should be sanitized too.

Using Gerba’s years of research combined with the proven tactics of Aggie MacKenzie, a co-author of How Clean Is Your House? you can achieve an ideal bathroom that is germ-free and healthy.

Bath Cleaning

Here are the eight fabulous tactics for cleaning your bathroom and targeting lurking germs

1.      Keep your bathroom dry

An easy one to start with. By keeping the floor, walls, and other surfaces dry after using or cleaning you are lowering the chances of germs breeding in your bathroom.

Irrespective of how you disinfect your bathroom every couple of months, mopping and wiping every droplet after using your bathroom will mean fewer problems.

The breeding ground for bacteria, viruses, mold, etc., is moisture, and they love it. By making sure that it is dry, you are flushing your worries in the drain.

2.      Showerhead cleaning

Take a grocery bag and pour white vinegar enough to submerge the shower nozzle. Once the nozzle is in, tie the bag and leave it overnight. Untie and remove the bag in the morning and rinse the nozzle with running water.

This is important because showers at our homes can harbor germs resulting in a serious—pulmonary disease. According to Gerba, turning on an unclean shower may result in disease-creating germs finding refuge in your lungs.

3.      Cleaning of a shower curtain or doors

You can easily wash the shower curtain and liners in the washing machine with ordinary detergent used for clothes. For cleaning shower doors, combine a cup of baking soda and some white vinegar in a bowl to make a paste.

Apply the paste on the door and wait for an hour after cleaning the door with a microfiber cloth. Now rinse the glass door and buff dry using a dry microfiber cloth. When it comes to cleaning the tub, the process is quite easy. Fill the tub with hot water and rinse. Now, apply a quality bathroom quality that is thick and stays for 15-20 minutes on the surface. Scrub, and it will sparkle.

4.      Get rid of grout grim

Use bleach and grout brush to get the desired results. Scrub any discolored or grimy area with bleach dipped brush. Scrub firmly and rinse. Grout being porous makes it an ideal surface for germ breeding. Every once in a while, 6-8 months, seal the grout. This will keep the bacteria growth in check, and moisture won’t be able to penetrate.

5.      Bathroom walls, tiles, and ceiling

Every household has an all-purpose cleaner/shiner that you can use to clean tiles, walls, and the bathroom ceiling. After thoroughly spraying the cleaner, wait for 20-25 minutes. Now, clean the surfaces with a soft and clean cloth. Clean the tile floor at the end after you’ve cleaned everything else.

6.      Make your toilet gleam again

Sprinkle a cup of baking soda into the toilet bowl. Wait for 10-15 minutes and brush. Flush it to complete the process. If you are still not satisfied with the result, spots bother you, or the grime is still there, a pressure washer will do the job just fine.

An electric pressure washer blasts hard-to-reach areas of the toilet and returns greats results. Flush after closing the lid and switch on the exhaust fan as it will pull the bacteria towards itself. Also, make sure you place your contact lenses and brushes in a cabinet.

7.      Achieve a sparkling bathroom sink

Start by pouring white vinegar or white soda into the drain, followed by flushing with hot water. As we touch the faucets multiple times a day, Gerba says that it would be better if you use disposable disinfecting wipes. As they not only shine the faucets but also sanitize them. Using clothes is risky as the germs can be transferred easily from one place to another.

You can use the dishwasher liquid or soap to clean the sink from the inside and outside brilliantly. Just pour a small amount of dishwasher on the surface and use foam to scrub gently. All the stains and general feel of the sink will be changed to shiny and clean.

8.      Clean the cleaning tools

Lots of people don’t pay attention to cleaning and sanitizing the bathroom cleaning tools, and this can ultimately result in ailments. Make sure you clean the brushes and stuff after every use. Use high-quality bleach over the bristles before you wash it with water. Even if you’ve used microfiber or normal cloth in the bathroom, don’t use them in the kitchen or bathroom before proper disinfection cleaning.

You should also be careful regarding the brush canister. It is also a haven for bacteria and viruses. Don’t take it lightly. Fill the canister with warm soapy water and wait for a while before throwing the water in the toilet.
