If you clean the area in proximity to the condenser coil and trim the plants and shrubs to a decent height, there will be sufficient airflow around the condenser which means improved performance.

Coil Fins

The fins on the evaporator and condenser coils, made of aluminium, are vulnerable to bending. Thus blocking the airflow from the coil. This is where you'll have to use a fin comb which is easily available in the market. This tool will help you bring the fins back to their normal position.

Condensate Drains

You must have seen discolored walls or carpet due to the excess moisture in the room where the AC is installed. This is due to the clogged drain channels. To abnegate this problem, you need to pass a stiff wire through the AC's drain channels. This way, your unit will work normally and help to prevent or lower the humidity and moisture.

Window Seals for Room Air Conditioners

Before the beginning of every summer season, carefully inspect the seals joining the air conditioner to the window frame. If the unit's metal case is making contact with the window, then it is alright. If not, then the chances are that the cooling will escape from the slit or any small opening present.

Moisture tends to damage the seal resulting in lower and slower cooling.

Preparing for Winter

In some countries where the winter seasons are long, people remove the air conditioner and place it in a safe place after covering it completely.
